HSBC - Our

Client

HSBC’s annual reports are more than financial documents; they are visual time capsules, each one reflecting a moment in the bank’s history. Spanning decades of change, growth, and global presence, the covers themselves tell a story of evolution.

The brief was to bring this archive to life, transforming static history into a dynamic visual journey that connects past and present in a way that feels relevant to today’s audience.

I turned decades of history into a story people could feel. Working across nearly a century of material, I carefully curated and distilled dozens of report covers down to a select few, identifying the moments that best captured HSBC’s evolution. The challenge wasn’t just selection, but storytelling: creating a flow that felt intentional, seamless, and engaging.

The final animation travelled far beyond its original brief, from social platforms such as HSBC Instagram to internal lift screens across global headquarters in London and Hong Kong, and even into a Townhall setting with senior leadership. Seeing the work move through those spaces and reach colleagues, stakeholders, and decision-makers was a defining moment. It showed that thoughtful design doesn’t just communicate history, it makes people stop and take it in.
